The following ad for the Buick Regal Gran Sport coupe ran in the April 1989 edition of Motor Trend magazine. It featured a large overhead shot of the car's interior, touting the '89 GS' available four bucket seat configuration as a "Buick for two. Plus two." The copy went on to say that the "Regal Gran Sport is the most exhilarating Buick this side of the racetrack." The Regal was based on General Motors' brand-new-at-the-time W-body platform, which shared its underpinnings with the 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and 1990 Chevy Lumina.
Other standard Gran Sport features highlighted in the advertisement included:
16" aluminum wheels
Eagle GT+4 steel-belted radials
Front air dam and aero rocker panels
Firm Gran Trouring suspension
Leather-wrapped steering wheel
Fast-ratio power steering.
